Dear Friends,
A good while has past since we have posted an update! That means Bennett is a much bigger baby now (but still so little and cute!). We're now in Ohio...we flew in on July 2nd, so we got to catch both the 4th of July and my Dad's birthday! Bennett was such a good boy flying. We had 4 flights and he barely made a peep except for one unfortunate moment when I was up visiting the WC and Toshe had him on his own! So he did great in the enclosed environment of the airplanes...but the airport was a different story! He definitely did not enjoy us rushing through the terminals...and he seemed to scream his way through security every time! But we survived it, and arrived to be greeted by the welcoming arms of happy grandparents and uncle Nick!
Our time here seems to be going by quickly...and is very full and rich of moments reconnecting with family and friends!...and even making new ones!!
I have felt very blessed to have 2 of my roommates from college make the trip to Somerset to see me and to meet Bennett. Melissa, another friend from college and a former colleague in Macedonia also came for a visit. It's been fun to see my best friend Julie from growing up...and how much bigger her baby boy is; and today I get to see my friend Marissa!! After going so long without seeing these friends face to face...it is hard to describe how meaningful it is to get to spend time together!
So we have a full house this summer at the Pettit's...my parent's home. My brother Nick just graduated from Miami University (where I went) with a Bachelor's of Arts in Architecture (the same degree I have)... and he's home for the summer managing the country club pool in a nearby town and coaching swim team. We hardly see him! So it's my parents, my brother, the 3 of us, and two dogs all inhabiting one house this summer! We've been managing well so far! It's been great to have so many extra hands around constantly to love on Bennett and to help out! I think Grandma and Grandpa (my parents) are especially enjoying soaking up time with their grandson! It's fun to see them gushing all over him, and exclaiming how cute he is....because we feel the same way!!
His hernia has not come out for a long time! I'm praying/hoping that it has already just gone away on it's own! Keep praying for that! We're going to make an appointment for him for a check up here soon!
Things have been getting off to a great start with support development. We recently met the new missions Pastor at a church locally that supports us (Fairfield Christian Church) and have been helped and blessed in so many ways by him. He has set Toshe up with an office in the church to make phone calls and things from through the day. This is such a big help so that Toshe can be in an environment where he can be focused...since here at home there is often a crying baby, barking dogs...or guests coming in and out. The missions Pastor also introduced Toshe to several people at their other campus (sister-church)...and he is going to have a concert there on August 2nd! We were just in the home of a great couple who's been on our support team for a year now, but we hadn't ever gotten together with them. They joined our team after meeting us one Sunday at church. We loved getting to know them more, and getting an opportunity to meet their daughter's family (who were also very wonderful!). Last night we had some friends over who were in a couple's Bible study that we went to while here in the past. We challenged them to partnership with us as well...and loved seeing their 15 month old cutie. We continue to meet with people and pray for the Lord to bring us to those who He intends to have on our support team...so together we can reach Macedonians for Christ! We trust that He will bring us to people who will be faithfully committed to pray and to provide for our financial needs! He's and EVER FAITHFUL GOD!
While Toshe's at the office, I've enjoyed being home more with the baby and with my mom who is a school teacher off for the summer!!
We have plans to go to Colorado sometime in August, and are working to finalize them! We can't wait to see our dear friends and support partners there as well!!!!
More updates to come..and hopefully pictures soon to!!!
Blessings,
Jessie
